Invitation to Attend

As President of the Home Economics Institute of Australia, I invite you to join me at our National Biennial Conference in January 2007. As always, HEIA has carefully chosen the theme, venue and speakers to provide delegates with a unique and highly valuable opportunity to challenge and develop their perspectives on issues of importance to home economics professionals. At this Conference, those issues revolve around the relationship among values, ethical decision-making and the related but distinct Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and the health and wellbeing of individuals and families.

The Conference will provide opportunities to examine, clarify and discuss with colleagues from industry, education and government the ethics of decisions that impact on wellbeing. Delegates will be able to consider the implications of new information and research for home economics practice, explore how ICTs impact on personal and professional lives, and revisit the significance of sustainability for the future of our world. The opportunities for field trips and demonstrations will enhance the Conference theme and provide for diverse interests.

The HEIA Council believes that the excitement and scope of Sydney as the destination will allow delegates the opportunity to participate in further activities to enrich their experience, before and after the Conference.
